Does any one remember where those pix came from of the guys climbing the big wind turbines? There was a great website posted here a couple years back but I can't find it

I did, none of the pics are near as cool as we had on here before

One of my friends who was on the TH for a bit, now works for a rope access company. They go around doing maintenance and safety checks on roller coasters and other fun. It looks like fun work minus the frigid climbing conditions.

Cool job.. this was a tall one

That's unbelievable. Why in the world does it have to be so far off the ground? The extra cost to get it that high must be astronomical.

The footings they have to have to anchor those things are mind boggling. I would like to believe they will be cost effective, but not totally convinced yet. Mass production and better designs are needed, I think.

That reminds me, I had posted pictures in the old thread of the windmill farm I drove through on my way to deliver Justin the bucket truck about 3 years ago.

Higher=more wind velocity.
To a point .The ones in the PA-West VA mountains are huge ,like 300 feet . The ones local are maybe 100 feet .

Never the less the wind speed goes on the inverse square laws .Something like the wind speed could be 10 times at 100 feet as it is on ground level .In this area of Ohio it seems the best is around 100 more or less .

So the turbulence they create won't interfere with the other mills.
