Will these trees live?

The idea was to avoid herbicides!!!
All national forests here have a ban on herbicides as do organic farms etc.

BLM is that way here but I think it's ok on forest service land. They do it to Madrone trees in timberland here, Foolish practice I think

Yew trees will survive with quite a bit of their bark peeled off. I did it for two days one break-up, harvesting the bark for use in some kind of cancer research or drug. Two days was it for me, to boring.
