This site is cool for a multitude of reasons. I enjoy the fact that no one here acts like a foggin' icehole on a regular basis. Just a bunch of dudes that know how to interact. Plus, there is no competitive attitude here. Just a mix of folks, some who have a lot, and some who dont, that all compliment the next guy and encourage him along!

There's something to be said for a place like this....they are few and far between.

At the GTG you could feel why the TH is sooooo cool.. It is the people and the tightness that binds them to this place.. It is like a family... and more...
Ya just feel the love man......:dude::stooges:

We're cool because we're cool, and that's what makes us all cool.

Simple as dat, dawgs.

Great posts!

And 2 more killer threads that epitomize, IMHO, the topics here: Gerry's great quote from Fundamentals. And Square foot gardening. Very cool, diverse topics.

And re Gerr's quote, the inherent challenge and danger of treework and the techniques and strategies and philosophies we use to deal with that, tie the site together.

I can't think of any other sites that come close. And if there were some, I'm sure I would find out about them here....8)

For the life of me, I can't figure out why the other tree forums don't have this vibe. I mean, when I first found AS and began posting, I loved it! I was all for it and did everything I (IMO) thought I could do to participate and perpetuate it, and my reward was getting banned. And the same thing happening again at TB just aboot blew my mind.

Wow, interesting background, MB.

And I got to hand it to you, it's virtually always nice to read your posts cuz you express yourself clearly and succinctly. Heck, you gave me a new appreciation of the proper use of commas. Seriously! Makes me try to express myself clearly as well, but with mixed results.

And the phonetic spellings and pronounciations (e.g. aboot) are cool too.

I think they felt threatened because they felt like they were losing control of their forums. Both of those forums are run with the implication that "This is MY forum and you all are guests here. Always behave as if you are a guest in my house." Butch just made himself a little too much at home for their taste.

But here at the Treehouse, Butch has always maintained the attitude that this is OUR forum. We are all at home here. No need to worry about upsetting the house owner, we simply treat this place with the respect we treat our own home. We don't spread crap here just like we wouldn't crap in our own living room. Butch's 'no rules' policy has allowed us to all take pride in part ownership of this place.

MB it because you were a post whore over there. And this place is fun to hang out at.
and all you folks are great. The AS site just makes me mad. And i don't get twitter at all.

Although I was accused of being a PW, which I undoubtedly was, it wasn't because I was trying to be.

I was just loving the concept of a tree forum and it was my first computer.

I thought I was just participating.

One thing about this place that beats the others...

The QUALITY of participation.

Indeed Erik! Man has it changed at AS! They are now encouraging people to go out and learn to climb themselves now and get mad at me when I try to tell people how hard and unsafe it can be.
The people there are not the same and most all of the knowledge has left. Even Lakeside bailed out!

MB and his first computer...that conjures up quite a picture. You've come a long way, what with your own site. I'm still working on posting a picture:|:

MB, reading you at AS, I thought "this guy is way too cool! I need to check out his site!"

So, here I stay.

Haha, that was not my first impression of MB actually. The first I saw of him was the thread where he had taken the chainbrake off of his 200T, and I thought "this guy is a nut!". It turned into a totally classic thread.

I remember that thread like it was yesterday. I was sure you were trolling big-time...that or a wack job.

Might have been right, too.
:D
