What’s this? It’s on a cherry blossom. Just a few spots at the lower trunk. All else appears normal with the tree.

I've seen that a lot. Never took particular notice aside from "cherries ooze". Dunno if there's any greater meaning, but it was hot and dry this summer. Maybe drought stress?

I have a tulip poplar that has never had leaves change color and start to fall until late September. Starting 6 weeks early. I am wondering if drought is stressing my trees? Signs to look for in other species? Anything to ease the stress?

Trees around here have been looking pretty bad, and I've been seeing falling leaves. It feels early, but it could be I'm just not remembering well. I suspect it's due to heat and dryness. I haven't noticed tulip poplars particularly. The ones I have taken notice of look about right, but I'm not out intentionally surveying trees. I've just been seeing a bunch where I think "That tree really looks like shit".
