Have you guy's seen who is on the cover of the new Wespur catalogue? Congrats Dave, that's pretty cool. Did you have a good groundie or did you get ragdolled?

Here is a pic.

Seems like the safety nazis will have a field day with that pic..... I would have done it the same (without the hard hat) but arent you supposed to be tied in above the block and not be 1 handing the saw:P

Seriously: I was wondering if ANY of you guys run your flipline above the block. All the guys at the shop do it the same way underneath like that, but I had heard, like PCTREE suggested, that the safety Czars would rather have the flipline on top. That seems asinine to me--couldn't you get shook off the stick that way? I know, I know--you're supposed to be tied in 45 times and all that, but still.

Also: how many of you guys, like me, (I'm embarrassed to confess this and may stop doing it) cheat and use a running bowline in the block strap with extra slack in it--thus unduly stressing the rigging--just so you're afforded the leisure of sliding it down the stick as you work your way down instead of untying it and re-tying it every time?:/:

I've never done it, but it sounds good to me.

I place my lanyard above the block, not a problem at all. My climbing line goes below it.

Butch: do you place your hands up against the stick super hard when the chunk comes off--to prevent your flipline from flipping off--or do you just have the groundman extraordinaire?

We've got a few guys who are really amazing at running rope, but every once in a while, somebody's gonna rattle your cadge pretty hard.:O

Jed, if I can offer my little bit of insight- Groundmen who paddleballed me got a severe barrage of foul language shouted from the top of the spar. Groundmen who paddleballed me twice no longer roped for me. I'd chunk the stem down in firewood size pieces rather than let some $8 per hour stick picker beat me to hell.

LOL, we've all been paddleballed. I got paddleballed 5 or 6 times last week in a 90' pine.
