I did a big broad tree today, by myself:/: to get from one leader to another I had to haul up the other end of my rope and tie an 'old school' single line attachment and hitch (no split tail) for a second tie, in, my lanyard has taken a couple hits and is way to short for anything other than a close safety.

Boy, I'd forgotten how comfortable it is, sliding across the gap tending both hitches, sitting in the 'V' lovely wide tie ins for stability!!

Goes to show, everyone should learn to tie a system with the tail of their rope, gets you through the job when the fancier gear is unavailable.

 You know it... I had one just like that Tues on a storm damaged tree... Toss the tail and put a friction hitch in. I planned ahead as I had a few of these to do, to traverse to places in the wide canopy that no longer had the previous points of tie in. I took an Eye2Eye and pulley up with me ;)
Do it with a blakes in a pinch too :)

Bill, it will save you major time on changeovers, try it one day, you might like it.
No need to spend money, just cut a bit off the end of your main line and use that.

For sure Butch, but if the lad has never tried it on his main line, he might be pleasantly surprised!

Yeah Bill, tie whatever hitch you like best...

If you don't use some type of split tail, you are not working to your max efficiency. :drink:

It takes me maybe 2 minutes to tie in upon reaching my T.I.P. If I need to traverse I'll have a throw ball tied to my line and throw it where I want it and pull it towards me with a pole saw.

I know but I believe it to be a fact. You cannot change tie in points near as fast in any other Ddrt system I have ever seen

All I can say chaps is the tail system I tied took a lot longer to reposition than the split tail end, but hey, it was FUN sliding across those gaps!!
'sall good when you get the cheque at the end of the day!

My buddy Luke showed me how to use It, he even tied it for me, I got halfway through a laurel oak removal and switched back to a tautline. The blake kept seizing up on me.
