These maples will get pretty big, won't they? They seem too close to me. I wonder what look the guy was going for.

Only the strong survive, maybe some wont hang.

maybe firewood in a few years as the trees need to be thinned to retain the strongest specimen as space deteriorates

I don't believe someone was someone was actually thinking that in advance. Not a single one of these trees is planted in a good spot.

If they survive you have to remember that a maple is somewhat shade tollerent .They call it an "understory " plant or something like that .It will thrive in less sunlight than most trees .

Fact is I have some in the woods growing under 100 foot oaks that are 60 feet tall and only 6 inches in diameter . Skinny minnies so to speak .
