Kicked out a nest of about eight rats this last week in a Cal. live oak. When I removed the nest debris I found a two dollar bill. Thought I would start a post for stories like this or other evictions of fur balls from society.:blob6:

I didn't evict this guy but I did kinda perturb him.

I was climbing with a friend at the Tree Rendezvous 2008 near Atlanta and we were about 50 feet up and planting a Treeocache when we bumped into Mr. Possum...it was a great discovery. He only spit and hissed a little...held his ground and let us pass...a day full of adventure.

Cutting a live oak branch early in climbing with a saw days. Turned out the branch was hollow. Now being real new to being in a tree with a saw makes a guy's nerves on edge anyway (I don't think I was even 20 feet up hahaha) . I saw a streak and felt something on my hand... Thought for sure I had done the nasty with the saw to my hand... And there it was (as I was feeling my butt pucker), a mouse. I had hit a nest and out he ran hickory dickory dock across my hand and jumped ship. I about had to change my shorts. Eviction had been served! I was alive and got the heck out of the tree!:lol::lol:

My first year of doing treework I had an encounter. The climber was trimming out an oak tree and I was dragging brush to the chipper. I picked up a length of 8" limb and it was hollow, so I tucked it under my arm in order to grab another limb. I was about 30' across the yard when I felt something clammy wrapping around my arm. I looked and a giant rat tail was wrapping itself around me! That possum was NOT happy, I'm lucky he wasn't facing the other way!

Thousands of animal encounters since, this was one of the most memorable.

Bats, lots of bats encountered in hollow parts of trees. I feel sorry for them when they suddenly get disoriented in bright sunlight.

Baby birds (and their protective mothers), owls, raccoons, possums, snakes, rats, mice, flying and grey squirrels, as well as billions of biting insects.

I've never actually seen a bat in a tree, although I'm sure they have been there. I'd love to see a bat up close.

Probabley the wierdest was a nest of hybernating bats in a hollow silver maple . Squirrels inside a hollow tree really move out once the tree hits the ground, about a 100 miles per hour just a beatin feet .

The oddest though was with a chain trencher and right through a nest of hybernating ground squirrels .Popped them up on top of the ground and never even harmed a hair on them , I imagine they were a little surprised to wake up on top of the ground though .

Bats are strange creatures, fascinating to observe, and they will really crowd into a tight space, appear to get along well with each other. Pretty good eating apparently.

Coons, bats, birds, squirrels, thats all I can think of at the moment. One time my buddy Joe was wrecking a couple cottonwoods with the bucket. They had been topped a few time and were very hollow, he got them short enough to fit in the front yard. I fell the first one and out rolled 3 little coons that promptly ran back inside to mama. That mama was the angriest thing I've ever seen, worse than treed coons! We called wildlife images and they came an hour later to collect the coons, mama "accidently" escaped

I won't evict baby birds or disturb a nest... It's my code....
Rats nests I always give the HO the option as they are the land lord :D HO has final say on all wildlife in their domain.

The worst is when they climb to the top, jump, bounce, and then try to run back up the tree past you again.
