Timber Framing

Cool looking hinges. Are you gonna finish them, or leave them rusty? I can see the appeal either way, but I kinda like rusty. Maybe a hot oil bath? I might have to play around with something like that and see how it turns out.

Order a new point for your pickaroon while you're thinking about it ;^)

Probably leave then like that. The light rust is from soaking in vinegar. Didn't do much.
Pickeroon belongs to a friend. I got LogRite to send him a new one.

I've got a ton of 10' and 12' pine logs that need to get milled into pretty much anything. A bunch will just be 3x4 dunnage, but others will make nice timbers. I've decided to cut them for a small open sided pavilion big enough for a picnic table and a grill. I'm going to try a hipped roof, as I've never played with compound roof joinery before. I'll put it up on my driveway with a for sale sign on it. Maybe 10"x12". A small project like this fits in my garage easily, and will give me something to work on when the weather is crappy. I will incorporate some curvy natural edge braces to add some interest.
