I'm just seriously amazed that you choose to climb trees for a living. Thank God that you are not utillizing your gifts to their full economic benefit, because elsewise, we probably never would have seen the Akimbo.

Things just keep getting better. Without innovators like Jamie, Paul, and Kevin, and so many others in this industry it would still be lagging in the dark ages of the early 1900s. The internet and affordable Cad programs and hardware has revolutionized developments in all industries. Right from grass roots thinking of common folks. It is amazing. Thank you!

Where would we be without innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs like Jamie and others who would go out on a limb (literally in this case) with their time, talents and treasure. I love it.

You do realize that a bunch of us going in and sending money so he can continue his work is almost socialism, right:lol:

Wrong, Willie.
Once he starts marketing them and making the big bucks, it is capitalism.

So far it amounts to a sort of grass root socialism.

Stig, does it make a difference that people had a choice in supporting the project as opposed to being required to fund it?

Just curious. :)

Disagree, we have chosen to support him over because we want what he's making. Nobody told me I had to do it for the greater good. Everyone on this site didn't contribute. Many that could have contributed more didn't. Some probably made a real sacrifice to donate. Some donated $300 and will get an Akimbo, others donated the same and may not. If Jamie wasn't a cool guy I'd guess many that donated wouldn't have. Just freedom at its finest from many different governmental backgrounds.

Grass root socialism is freedom
Grass root anything is about free choice.
Doing something because it feels right, not because you are required to.

Willie, this was ( to me, at least) never about the greater good ( Socialist or not, most time I don't give a shit about the greater good) it was about getting behind someone who had a brilliant idea, but not the means to bring it to life.

To me, that is what socialism means.

If you want to look at it as a selfish thing ( We only supported him because we want the product) that is fine, too.

Honestly, I'm not much of a socialist myself ( I mostly become a hardcore one, when I want to yank the chain on some of our right wing members) So any name you want to call it is fine by me.

I'm just happy that it worked out so astoundingly well ( There is not much that gives me hope for mankind, but stuff like this does)

Was that perhaps the largest number of parentheses ever used in one post in treehouse history?

I know, otherwise you'd happily pay your taxes!

I don't mind dying so much... I just hate that I won't be able to see the cool shit we come up with in the next hundred years.

Oh... Sweet! Butch... I read ya! Finally! The End of This Stinking Pigsty from the Invention of the Greatest Super-Weapon Ever! :drink:

I agree, Willie, capitalism at work, with a Lean Start Up as well- cutting edge stuff!
