More Siberian elm golf

36” 90cc faster and more efficient than 32”. Also cutting at the ground, no going back for stumps, but dulling chains faster. Took full wrap off for this.
Curly root grain sometimes doesn’t hold but I got most of the trickier trees last time. .

Forgot to get a pic of the hollow codominant that split in half when it landed. Little pucker there, glad it didn’t split on me. Never assume…when I noticed it was hollow I should have stopped and reassessed.

This one is waiting til tomorrow when we have some equipment. I may be crazy but I’m not dumb 😆

If it wasn’t power lines and if it had a little more trunk diameter, I might back cut first, but nah, not power lines. It’s gonna be tight between that other tree and the green.

Is that basal rot typical of spruce beetle kills or not necessarily?

The area I live in has hundreds of Bark Beetle kills, literally hundreds. Beetle kills rhem off they get left for years until they fall.

Nesodden in also 90% ants nest. So if ants done get them, or just the decline in the integrity of the wood they usually snap.

Afaik Rich is a self employed freelance climber who also does his own jobs as and when.

Correct Mick.

I would like to grow my own business further but there is one firm out here who are generations from this area. He either went to school with someone, his parent or his grand parent know them.

He is a mate and a great guy, so I figured dont be salty. I climb for him, charge a very good rate, not much travel as it is all local and less charges, fuel and tolls etc.

Plus I am often home early for tea and biscuits.
