Today, there were rather shaggy poplars growing near the sports field. A fence, lighting poles with a complex system, a rubber covering of a sports field and other bonuses!) I had a lot of fun!)

Small cherry removal in a bad spot. Below is heavily landscaped along with a scenic walking path and babbling brook. Just to the right and below is an outdoor chapel. I was set up beside the building and behind the privacy fence. Thankfully we could two pick the tree because winds (35mph) were right at the limit for having the boom up today.

This morning I sawed down a rather tall lime tree with a large slope . A lime tree with a large slope of the trunk and a lot of wires. There were also exposed wires for trolleybuses. (600 Volts ) Christ is Risen!

Agreed, but unpredictable.

Sometimes it’s gusty here, like when I was gonna do the cotton wood, I waited til the next day. But often it’s a good solid constant.

Slightly different I know but the London Plane trees in summer are killer. They will block sinuses, chippers, drains and anything else that you wouldn’t expect to be blocked from the seed balls exploding when they hit the deck.

The absolute killer is that they are sterile as well, so the seed balls are as much use as a chocolate teapot!

Weirdly they don’t bother me - in 2019 I climbed with Nick and Karina’s TreeCareLA crew and once they heard I wasn’t reactive to Platanus guess which trees I got assigned…
They have an interesting species out there: P. racemosa (Western sycamore). The spherical fruit clusters/seed heads unlike what we have out East are linked one below the other on the same stalk. When I chipped the brush they all made sure they were upwind!

Today I cut down 10 ash trees. I moved the crow's nest from an ash tree to a poplar tree.

Booked this job for 4 days with buffer for a fifth if needed.
It's really hard to capture how goofy these two black oaks are and the lean. The upper one comes over from the neighbors property and sits atop the other. We are removing both. Brush on the second one should be roped down and chipped tomorrow. Then we can start reducing the wood down to fit.
I climbed 3 cedars and set rigging so I have some decent tie ins and rigging points to lower the logs out and access to them. Fell the last bit with lowering lines to guide the log down.
Kavey was stripping the tops in the first tree today.
