It's happening everywhere...maybe not so badly, but still. My HO insurance has tripled in 5 years. Major wildfires/mandatory evacuations in 2020 put a scare in insurance providers. And I do live in a forested rural environment, no escaping that fact. Decades ago, it was hard for fires to run much in the damp western Cascade forests...not now, with the changes in our climate here.

Big old lightning struck walnut mushbag. Going to flop the log today. I’ll grab a pic of the mess today.
The yellow strap is the GRCS and I had to install a chain and wedges higher up as it’s split and you can see daylight thru it. A fair amount of brown rot is present behind the split.

Pieced it down, roped a little. Butt tied the butt of the log to throw it. Kinda down hill to the hwy.

Took out that sycamore today and chased roots with the grinder after the fun part.

Slightly different I know but the London Plane trees in summer are killer. They will block sinuses, chippers, drains and anything else that you wouldn’t expect to be blocked from the seed balls exploding when they hit the deck.

The absolute killer is that they are sterile as well, so the seed balls are as much use as a chocolate teapot!
