Good pics.
I (like many others I suspect) had no conception of this sort of logging till I saw AX Men.
Now we all know how contrived a lot of that was, but we sort of got the bones of it, carriages, landing areas, shit weather, steep hillsides, anchor trees all that.
I would love to spend a few days on a site like that to get the feel of it, I am too old to ever actually run up the slopes or similar.

The wood in the second pic looks basically identical to black walnut which we have alot of around here

Yes, it’s pretty and pretty valuable but hard to get decent wood out of. Gets lighter as it dries. Www.tulepeaktimber.com buys it from me sometimes, they make $$$ charcuterie boards, etc. out of it for rich folks.

Today was Monday, as usual, it was quite fun. Especially at the end of the year - New Year's Eve fever starts every year at the end of December!
Everyone immediately wants to trim, trim, etc. Today I cut down 6 trees and pruned 13 pieces.

Today I made two pretty powerful poplars. It was especially difficult with the second poplar tree - there were a lot of wires, next to it was the entrance to the cafe and the road along which cars were constantly driving.( Anyway, it was fun!

That's why I wear BDUs/ACUs virtually 100% of the time. They're cheap, reliably sized, and well made. I have ripped the crotch seam on a couple pair, but they were good and used by that point, and I only had to restitch the seam. The material was fine.

A lot of the reason for crotch rips is that the crotch is too low below the leg hinge point unless you hike them way up. I like a lower rise pant.
