The Official Work Pictures Thread

Sgriff rocking it man.

Jedi you're a humble dude which speaks volumes, you're banging it out daily. I really dig your pics and descriptions.

Jed, I've noticed you hitting it hard and heavy as well. There are bigger Zelkova's around. A revered tree, both for appearance and the wood it brings. Once planted in abundance, like no garden was complete without one. Years ago we were whacking them fairly frequently for justifiable reasons, but they only come up now and again now. Unfortunately when the large spreading branches get cut back as they often were, they usually get serious rot coming down. Many suffer that fate. It's a type of Elm if people aren't familiar. Not a fun wood to split for the stove.

Cory, I've only worked with this one sherpa, but if he is indicative of how they all work, quite a force. Sponsoring one to bring him over for a crew could be a real asset, if it were possible.

Nice crane shots and hinge shots.
Set a gin pole up at 150 feet for removing the larger trees off the house at our large project. HOBBS performed perfect. David cut and we took turns on ropes after I set up the rigging.50" Dbh. David topped it at 155 feet so tree was 175.

Dang pic of the lower portion did not load... grrrr. Try again in a bit

Zip lining a good sized top from the back of a garden walk way. Crane will be plucking what is left of the spars tomorrow.. Sat.

That was the top I took off one in the back Jed. I have David's top on another camera. Katy and the HO are snapping pictures like crazy. Probably going to make a thread after I go through all the footage when done.
Thank the tree gods they were not all this big.... That was the biggest. We will be working a triple top one that is almost as big today while the crane takes stems from the garden.
Thanks for the compliments guys. Residential logging is a strange animal. Mega tons of wood from 45 trees all in a little biddy yard..

Jed, here is the one the top flew from. We had two gin poles load sharing and picking it off the back corner.... Chunks were lowered to a walk way through the garden and Mike would walk them down the path to the drive way fo the Dingo to move.

The top I zip lined out was on a 1/2 block and sling.

Clever stuff. Working smart.
Just so I'm up with your terminology A"gin Pole" is another tree you're using to lower from, right?

Yes Mick. On the chunk Mike was walking down the path, the lower block was set at 100 feet, the upper at 120. Kind of limited on weight we could take, but you have some lifting and tipping ability with high rigging points and the big bollards.

Cool gin pole use.

Would Mike be better off using a hay hook or cant hook so he can spike a heavy piece and not be under it when drifting it along in the air?
