Have never noticed an issue. It's not that cold here. Just a bit of snow. Next week will be above zero in the days by a good few degrees. It's not a lot of cutting either really. We'll be doing three other dead cottonwoods along this same pathway. Just drop and slash down. Left to rot as naturally as possible. We've made quite a few wildlife snags on this same creek where it's safe to do so.
Stupidly I thought I could just cut right through on the big lump using wedges, I nearly made it but the bar was pinched on the last 1/4 inch of wood, I had to take the power head off and get down in shame
The crane really struggled breaking that last little bit.
Well it warmed up to -10C lately and I decided to get away from 2 months of cabin fever and get back to a 60 tree removal job I put off till spring.
Feels real good for the body and soul. Even figured out how to use my camera's timer.
When I look at Willard's pics and all the others from the frozen north I always think how hard it must be to make a living up there, here in Western Europe you lose very few days to the weather.
What do you do in those periods? You can only change blades and sharpen saws so often.
