Nope, I wish that was the way the industry worked. I can't believe things have changed much, but back then it was flat rate per scene. The girls would take home at least 5k, depending on the scene, her appearance, etc. Lots of girls pulled five figures in an afternoon. Male talent got the short, shitty end of the stick. Wasn't uncommon to only make $250. Meanwhile we get all the same social stigmas, no chance at a real relationship, blah blah blah. Nobody talks about it from our perspective though, how we get used like tissue and cast aside. All you here about is how the girls, who also showed up to the same shoot, are exploited and used. I'm not trying to take anything away from them, but shine light on da boyz.

Let me tell you, lots of guys woulda paid for the opportunity to embarrass themselves on camera, but actually finding a guy with size, stamina, presence, and the confidence to "get it on" while a room full of people watch, pushing cameras between your legs and commenting on your balls is a whole different matter.

This might surprise you, but the girls aren't typically faking it. Most of the ladies I actually talked to, confessed that they got into porn because they were either sexually repressed or frustrated. Fundamental religious families, mostly Mormon, small towns. Some were legitimately looking to "climb a big tree".

The most common girl in porn, is the one that shoots one scene, and is never seen again. They think "I'm pretty, I'm good in bed, it'll be easy money!" Meanwhile, they're a 7 on a good day, have only been with three guys of average endowment, missionary primarily. Then Chad the ImpaleHer folds her into a pretzel and tries to push her teeth out of her head from inside with the subway sandwich in his Hanes.

There is a lot of drug and alcohol use, but that's not so much the coping mechanism the media makes it out to be. It's all kind of a party atmosphere, at least at a number of companies I worked with. Sets with storyline, even the classic "plumber here to clean your pipes" is actually much more difficult, there actually has to be at least some chemistry, or you will fall into the fake moan trope.

Honestly, the guys have a much harder time. It's not uncommon for a 30 minute scene to take all day to film, that's why "amateur" stuff and debuts are almost exclusively filmed indoors. It's also why most guys don't make much. If you're constantly falling flat, or you get over excited and pop too early, you won't be getting many call backs. Turnover rate is incredible, regardless of gender.

WhistlinDIesel would be super cool if he didn't try to constantly compare himself to other YouTubers in his videos. He's always flexing on other people and making sure the viewer knows how badass he and his machines are. It's hard to watch sometimes. But yeah, that kind of ego resonates with millennials and he has millions of subscribers and lives nicely off of that YouTube money. Cha ching!

What becomes popular on YouTube is a mystery to me. I've always liked my entertainment to teach me something, ie. I only watch educational stuff, with very few exceptions. My family isn't always nuts about it, but I resent what I call "vapid content".

I'd bet that the reckless part is only his constructed persona for the exterior view point. He shows off but he has a crew to help him do that. I prefer "tangent." The term "derail" suggests that the discussion was led towards a topic which this forum is not equipped to support or accommodate, much how a literal derail occurs when a train behaves in a manner which isn't supported by the construction of its tracks and infrastructure. Several people were enthusiastically asking @Kaveman about his personal experiences in the porn industry, and even appeared to glean newly found insights as a direct result of his willingness to be so candid.

If it wasn't a "derail" or a "tangent," what might it have possibly been instead? This question is not confrontational whatsoever. I'm just seeking clarification so that I can better understand you and appreciate the meaning behind your post.
