Maybe 3 on 1 makes it tough to wait for them to throw down first? Most MA are "strike after".

There is strike before (pre-emptive), strike at (as something happens...simultaneous) and strike after (self defense).

Survival often requires strike first...animals do that...predators...and assassins.
