My first dog, Josh was his name, was a full-time bandana wearer. Before I was with M, he just had plain old cotton bandanas from the general store. He'd wear them out fairly fast :). After, she made some nice wool ones that lasted a lot longer and always looked fresher. It is important for a dog's self-image, to look sharp :D.

Here's a scanned slide that M has recently digitized. Waaay back there in the old days. That is me circa 1978, 24 years old. 23 Burnham & Josh at No-Pica Rock.JPG

He was a real nice animal to be around. Gentle as the day is long. Weighed between 85 and 90 pounds and was tall/long legged.

He happily carried as much weight as I could load into his pannier packs; on long backcountry backpack trips he'd start with 25+ pounds, and I'd have 50+ pounds. We went some marvelous places deep in the high mountains of Idaho.

I halfway believe he's the main reason M hooked up with me in the first place. Maybe more than halfway :).

Thanks.

It belongs to Stine’s cousin but we get to use it when it’s free.

Last couple of days have been snowboarding but today was a slow start so just chilling around here and Stine is gonna try skiing with her when they are back from the walk.

She is good for a few hundred metres then starts attacking the skis and my missus falls over. Great fun for those watching, not so much for Stine.

If only I could ski 😜

We have rain chains instead of downspouts in places.

Not quite as effective at full, full drainage, I'd think, but they downs slowly freeze up, shrinking the effective inner diameter of the downspout.

They are pretty to watch more than a downspout. Plastic are effective enough.

My last doggo, Mouse. He was a rescue from Salinas. Clipped ears, beat up knees, worn down teeth (presumably from being kenneled and trying too chew his way out).
We took him home and got his skin healed up, but there wasn’t much we could do about his knees short of expensive surgery. He was a great dog. He looked mean, but never once had me worried about having him around my kid. Sadly, he passed from cancer at the end of the pandemic. It was mercifully quick, and fortunately we didn’t have to deal with a long drawn out illness and attempted treatments. We buried him in the yard and planted a heartnut tree❤️
