Windsor made claim in Feb 1971 their sprocket nose tip bar engineering first. But in the mid- late 1980s Sandvik successfully sued Windsor for that claim seeing Sandvik made a sprocket nose bar earlier in Europe. Windsors market sales was hurting at this time to legally fight so it ended up Sandvik bought them out and then they became Sandvik- Windsor . I lost track but some years later Windsor solely became Windsor again and then later on Oregon bought them out.
Sandvik earlier only had a laminated consumer grade bar with a non replaceable tip, I see no evidence they produced a detachable tip before Windsors design.
If I'm not mistaken Homelite was already selling their lightweight consumer grade saws with the Sandvik 1/4" pitch sprocket nosed laminated bars before 1971, from a picture I saw with the familiar 4 raised rivet pattern sprocket nose.
The claim confusion revolved around "non detachable and detachable bar noses". The Windsor design from 1971 is still the same solid product today, only with a change of shortening the bar insert joint which was upgraded in the early 1980s.
