I was most honored in recent days to take Stig and two of his apprentices to a couple trees over the 28th and 29th fair days of August 2009.

The Coombs Tree and the big flat top on Goose Ridge. Trees of which have been shared in pictures and descriptions in this forum from many climbs before.

No matter,, to every person that had the opportunity to climb these trees their experience is always unique to themselves and the time. And to see their smiles is the most rewarding part of the the time I spend with all of them.

Stig, Richard, and, Anders.

Jay, Stig didn't show me any martial arts moves, but he gave me one heck of a beautiful Beech burl bowl that he turned out himself.

I will post some pictures of the bowl in a following thread. It is a most wonderful handcrafted gift. Of which I'm sure you could appreciate, Jay.

That's just awesome, awesome, awesome....so cool to see them climbing a tree that I have actually been in. Y'all got some fine pictures. Thanks for sharing them.

The Coombs tree was awesome and I love the pictures of them in the top of the Goose Ridge tree. Did you take them down the road to the Drive-Thru tree park in Leggett?

I would like to have made a full circle in the trees with Stig and Company but time on both our sides would not allow it. What time was spent together was all quality to be sure.

I think that getting your photo taken in the top of one of those trees with your mates, would be a lifetime treasure, especially if Jerry felt like going up with you.

I'm posting this from a friends computer up in Arcata.
Thank you so much, Jerry. We still haven't come down from the experience. Every so often we'll look at each other and start chattering like a bunch of jays, just going on and on about what we just did.
The goose Ridge tree was the best climb of my life, the view from up there was simply breathtaking.

And, by the way, we have all bought flyfishing reels for our throwlines, that was a great tip, Jerry.

That last shot was killer, I want one like that. I assume you shot it from an adjacent tree.

I see. That's about the only thing that I can think of to go down to Southern California for, if you've never been...though you have to be in Anaheim to do it. :(

Haha....right!

So many Japanese wanted to go to Disneyland, that they just up and built one over here. I've never been, but I hear that you wait in line like two to three hours to go on one attraction. :|: Pretty nutz, but the people are generally a patient lot.
