On January 18, 2009, Ron McClelland, the bassist for Christian rock band Storyside: B, collapsed and died while on a cruise with 88.1 The Promise, where he was a guest personality.

According to the vice-president of the radio station, McClelland, 33, was playing basketball on the upper deck of the Jacksonville-based Carnival cruise ship Fascination. He was just 33 miles from returning to the Jacksonville port when he died Sunday. McClelland was on a listener cruise.

I saw Jeff Healey do it once, wasn't the same thing though.:D

He put on a rocking show for a blind dude, but after banging into the drums he kept more to his seat for the rest of that concert atleast.

It happened though and it was the big bobbing head right off the cymbal, looked like it musta smarted a bit but as a true showman he maintained composure and made it back to his chair without screwing up the song.

His chair was in the middle of a small carpet so he could navigate to it once he'd found the carpet. Clever.

I met Gram Parsons (red shirt), he was renting a house from a relative of mine, and we went over there to check on something. My relative introduced me to Gram, said that I was playing a little guitar. I was just a kid. Gram asked me what I was into, took some time and spoke very kindly to me, just a super nice guy. It was just a short time before he died in some motel room in the desert....drugs or alcohol. People talk about him saying that he was a great guy, never let the fame get to him, though the music business may have made him a bit crazy. There were some other musicians at his place that day, young guys holding Ovation guitars. They weren't nice, but very snobby. It didn't seem like a good scene. He told me that he started the Flying Burrito Brothers. I never forgot that conversation with Gram.....R.I.P.
