Songs I Like

The world will never know what other masterpieces the Big Bopper had in him.

I've been a good boy for so long, now I can't take it any more.
I simply have to play some commie music for y'all.

In the 70es when I grew up we had a lot of leftist protest bands. Biggest of them all were "Røde mor" ( red mother).

This is a song from -73 about a truckdriver and a waitress, both victims of an oppressive capitalist system, of course.

You won't get the words, but it is pretty good music even so IMO.

Goes all the way from a quiet spanish guitar to hard rock.

You liking a piece of commie music.
Whatever is the world coming to.

I guess not knowing the lyrics helps:lol:

But somehow I miss that kind of music, you know.

The protest songs.

Music that meant something and tried to change things.

Back in the late 70es we had a vote about whether to implement nuclear power or not ( turned out NOT!!!) and some of the absolute best artists in the country put a record together against nuclear power.

I've met people who are dyed in the wool nuke lovers, and they still own the record:)

Hre is a taste:

Excellent stuff Stig. Right wingers have no choice in owning lefty music as 90% is produced from leftish leaning artists. the other 10% is C&W, Combat 84, Screwdriver and Ted Nugent. Overtly leftish lyrics are rare.

While I'm at it.
This is the best voice ever to come out of this country.
Anisette Hansen who played with Savage rose.
She was offered a big contract in the US but stayed true to her commie beliefs and spent her life doing beneficial concerts, making great music but never getting rich.
Much like the Grateful Dead.
this is from -75 or thereabouts.

Of course you do.
Where do you think we got the idea?

The whole 67-8 thing started in the US and France and I sorta grew up in the shade of that.

My wife, who is 7 years older than me, was right in the middle of it all.

not a bad little version I thought....

Dave, I loved that mandolin/guitar piece. Sent it to a friend who is an acoustic guitar player.

Have you seen this one?
Not particularly fine playing, but I love the idea of using an old Bolinder-Munktell tractor( I think. Magnus would know) as rythm section.

That got me to browsing on youtube and I came across an old favourite:

Black Irish.
I had a girlfriend when I lived in California who was black Irish.
When we went to town, she'd wear a big red hibiscus flower in her long black hair.
Looked fantastic. Drove me wild.

Speaking of Irish:

Here is one of the best violinist of today IMO.

And an American, as well.

Her tone and way of playing reminds me a lot of Itzhac Perlman, who is my favourite violiniste. ( fiddle player!)

She is an absolute genius.

Her approach to Bach is just so modern. Almost anybody else makes him sound midieval, which of course he was.

Try hearing some of the other versions of his violin concertos on Youtube, and you'll se what I mean.

Every since that movie came out with this song in it. I have always like this one.
