Soil pH Testing- ever done it?

I did soil sampling and testing in high school.I took vo-ag and was a member of the FFA. Why,I have no idea because I never had thoughts of being a farmer.

You can buy the kits to check for acidity etc ,some cheap,some not.More times than not ,the local soil and water conservation district [USDA]have topography maps showing the various types of soil in agricultural areas.

Yeah!! Those are great! When I interned with the park service, that's what they gave me, and I really liked it. The school I'm at also uses those for field work.

It doesn't list soil testing as a use. Is that what you used it for?

I would send it out. By far easier and not so expensive. Tons of labs in California that do analysis for a great price.

There is more to soil than pH. On urban soils, I would think C:N ratios are important.
