Reading is a gift that every child deserves. My mom used to read to me from my first year onward, and I am thankful that she cultivated the desire to read in me from the beginning.

The single most important thing you can do for your child is to read aloud to them, starting early and often. BTW, the listening level develops much faster than the reading level. So, you should be reading books to them that they are not yet able to read on their own.

When I was a child, I was a big fan of the "Freddy the Pig" book series, had a list on the wall of all the titles, and checked them off as I read each one. I loved those books.
