Buckingham has a new ascender coming out, but I can’t find any info regarding release date, price point etc. Anyone here heard about it or see it at the expo in November?

MRS/SRS, midline attachable, replaceable wear components. Looks like a winner, only issue I can see is the “bird” looks a little on the large side, to me, might be easier to collapse with an errant limb or branch. Looks like an improved or updated Akimbo.

Buckingham Throttle

It’s an Akimbo with a larger bird in my very humble opinion. I know on the Akimbo 2.0, the bird was supposed to be enlarged but I’ve had very little issues with the original size with getting gloves sucked in. I like its compactness. As others stated, more of a chance for accidental collapse.

I just found out about BUCK’s Throttle on the you tube, It looks like a few tubers got excited about it at TCIA 24. I’ve been wanting to go mechanical but am failing to find a device which adapts as well as my hitch climber & chicane (midline, SRT, tending MRS, smooth limb walking). I have two questions
1: does Throttle tend by pushing up from the bottom? -I like to extend my bridge & foot lock SRT for shorter rope ascents.
2: does Throttle tolerate sap like a zigzag or unicender?

Personally, I'm about as impressed with BUCK as I am when my toddler shows me a large turd in the toilet. You know they're just a little behind everyone else you hang out with. They've been round since the dawn of time, and have yet to drag their knuckles into the modern era. Their harnesses suck, their spur pads suck, and everything is massively overpriced. Same with weaver.

Apparently, Kaveman has woke up and chose violence this morning...

i had a chance to check it out a TCIA. i looks very much like the akimbo on the outside, but the internal mechanism is very different. it tends jis like the akimbo and the roperunner, there is a bottom roller and you pull the tail up and outwards do push the device up the rope. i only got to climb a few feet up and down the demo rope they had at the booth probably not a great showcase, but it seemed really grippy. it is pretty big, and a bit heavy. it does have a few really cool/clever bits of engineering in it. i doubt it handles sap like the zigzag, probably in the same camp as the akimbo.
:(
i did get a clear release date, sometime 2025 i think.

Lol.

Not seeing these available yet, anyone got their hands on one?

Yep, phuk buck.

Get with the times or get left behind. I spent the money on a monkey beaver saddle because weaver and buckingham didn't have shit to compete. I don't own a single piece of gear from either, BECAUSE THEY AINT FIT TO OWN.

Come on, fight me.

I like all my Buck stuff. The portawrap is way better than Notch. My chonky old school 4D saddle is still my favorite for spur work, and my steel spikes are fine.

Their new saddles are pretty expensive, but so is MB. For their "premium" line, I don't think they're far out of line with their prices, but some of their lower end saddles should be cheaper.

Nah, I mostly agree, they do have a few pieces of solid gear, but for the most part you’re correct. The MB saddles are nice, very comfortable. I like mine, the lumbar support is especially useful. Built like a tank too.

i do like their portawraps

Agreed, I don’t use a ton of their gear, but I do like their port-a-wraps. Never owned their saddles.
