New employee experiment

I've tried paying them to learn the bowline - no takers yet!

Been there; done that with the same result.
Almost embarrassed to say that my incompetent knot tier had been working for me for almost three years.....By which time he had more or less mastered the sheet bend and timber hitch. But could still not identify a red pine from a tamarack, or a sugar maple from a basswood. I asked him one time to send up a tag line and he tied on a 180' 5/8". Which I didn't catch on to right away, (as I pulled it up) but when I did, I was almost overcome by rage and homicidal fantasies.
 
...Ski Patrol had a knot test, no pass / no jacket. We had to tie a figure Eight, Clove hitch, and make double butterfly coil on a long hank...not that demanding really
 
...back to the topic (again relates to my time in the ski biz)...seems dumbing down any job like lift attendant made shoes easier to fill, but the work quality goes down a notch ...oh well...management wins with a reduced training curve, payroll, and commitment though
