Bermy you set your line with a throw ball, and you don't haul the line. You haul yourself up the line. You end up messing with half the line really. To see srt at its finest check out Kevin Bingham (treebing) on YouTube.

Yeah...I'm a dial up dweeb, so you tube is a day long proposition!

I guess I just can't see SRT being practical when one has to change TIPS multiple times during a climb.
I'll stop now, trying to figure this out talking on the internet doesn't really work, I gotta see the climb, you gotta see my trees!

I guess I'd have to be there/do it to see it. I can limb walk DBRT no problemo; even better cuz I have twice the rope to grip.

Using a half inch rigging line double braid (not one that you rig with of course) is quite nice for SRT. You have a big fat hank of rope to hold on to, its cake to footlock and it isnt really that heavy. There is also no bounce. its more like climbing around on the ropes in gym class.

oh....
well maybe for you to feel comfortable in SRT a 5/8 double braid (like a stable braid) would work better or even a 3/4. No limit on size of rope. I like the poison Ivy but its a little skinny. the 16 strands are just way too bouncy.

What I am calling 1/2" rigging line is way thicker than my 11mm poison Ivy 1/2 inch 16 strand. It is the fattest rope I have climbed on and I like it.

i meant my "1/2" samson double braid rigging line seems way thicker than my 11mm poison ivy or my 1/2 inch 16 strand. and less bouncy than either.
