It was one of those, no rig points that would not smash against trunk, lady loves the tree, septic tank on north side between tree and house.
Calçada is a tipycal type of floor around here, can not be touched by anything, due to being laid in a sand base, pipes under it precise location unknowed, not enough money to crane it.
Reg Coates has a video doing it, way smoother then mine with cup of tea and biscuits...thanks Reg

I wonder if thin rounds would be easier. In they are thin and partially cut, a blow from a hammer might shear/split the round in half.

Ripping takes a lot of times.

Definitely a job for a respirator.

If no one cares about the firewood, the thin rounds are quicker and easier. Ripping the big rounds in place is a pain but more appealing than dealing with big diameter rounds in firewood lengths (given that there's not much concern about the ground level).
20" diameter is routine even in heavy wood without special mesures (slanted cuts, sliding rod...) but 30" begins to push it, even for "light" woods.

My fear with a thin round is that it's like a wheel and it can go far if lands wrong and rolls away. To split it in place with a hammer blow would need a really thin round, more like a dish. I envisioned once to split the rounds up there with the maul, but quickly decided against it.
