milling thread

Good point, I've gotten creative before with getting logs out. This one was in a very busy location, a big house being remodeled with several subcontractors all there at one time. It was an act of congress just to have enough space to take the tree down. The trunk was literally 6" from the portajohn, when I was making the face we had a guy ask if it was a bad time to use the bathroom. Doh!

A little progress on the stacker. The rest of the place doesn't want to stay together long enough to let me get much done.
Finally got the control cabinet started.
Would rather be in a tree lol

Peter, where can I find I VFD with 110 vac single phase input and 110 vac single phase output for a 1 1/8 hp motor? Sorry fer the rerail guys.

That may be the first time somebody apologized for a derail, " Bob".

We are knowns as super derailers here, as in Derailsareus.

Give me just one example of a thread that has run it's course underailed.

Some can take 110 1ph input but all will only put out 3ph, 220v, some I seen 110v 3ph . 1 1\8hp sounds like a shopsmith.

Yeah, a A. O. Smith motor. Induction motor I think. They offer a speed reducer but I don’t really like the design, belts not gears. Got a connection on a in-line gear reducer, see how it goes.

A rewind to 3ph 220v would cost about $180 CAD in my shop, then most VFDs would do the trick. Some smaller VFDs can take 1ph 220v no problem, 3rd leg might need a jumper.

Reducing speed on a single speed 1ph is complicated

first time using an alaskan mill, just wanting to show off haha

and looking for any tips or tricks :)

log was on the ground so I ended up sucking up a lot of exhaust, which was less than ideal. do any of you use a mask? if so what filters are best?

thanks -zayen

Tight squeeze for them to get the boards out. Cart came through.

Nice job Mr Shine!

No, princess auto cheapy hand winch, and some clearance dyneema line at a rope shop. Not sure what otherside you mean?

Edit. Oh. What I secured the winch line to? A nail tapped into the log.
