Well, I bought my 18" Bozeman on sale, putting it to use till the 31" goes on sale. A customer of mine that I did a lot of milling for bought a new bandsaw mill at an auction and found out moving logs is a chore. I borrowed my brother's trailer and left the mill at his house since my gate was frozen and snow piled and he hardly uses his trailer. Well he needed the trailer, I dug out my gate and dragged the mill to my back yard. 31" cut, 14hp Kohler with electric start. 20250226_144156.jpg 20250226_144208.jpg 20250227_121054.jpg 20250227_153007.jpg 20250228_103343.jpg 20250226_144156.jpg 20250226_144208.jpg 20250227_121054.jpg 20250227_153007.jpg 20250228_103343.jpg 20250228_115734.jpg 20250228_115734.jpg

Peter, how about rollers (round fence posts/ peeler cores) or skid logs for moving big logs with a redirects from your pulling power (truck?)? I've moved a roughly (green log weight estimated) 2000 pound log with a 2800 pound machine by using skid logs.

When logs are rounds, they can be wrapped with a winch cable to roll them. Roll them into a balance- point pivot (chunk of wood) to pivot/ rotate to adjust the rolling path/ turn a corner.

A long branch/ thin log can be placed under the log (if strapped to the cart) to use as a class 2 lever to shove the whole front end of the log and cart sideways.

I'm getting a bit overwhelmed, I don't have a good log moving system in place yet, and I'm having logs dumped in my driveway. If I can get the log up and onto my cart then I have a chance. If the logs get dropped off and I can open my gate I have an I beam to unload them. Next project is a log arch.

Some 26" wide walnut dropped off. I need to seriously reexamine what I am doing, still have not got the spruce milled up. This is my driveway and the mill is at the back. My gate is open.

It sure looks like you need a machine to move the wood about. Plus, a lot more room. But I figure I'm not saying anything you have not said to yourself.

Are the neighbors pissed yet?
Hotel two doors away burnt down, house next door is Chinese owned and was over filled with Chinese students, behind me the dogs can jump into my yard from the piles of dog shit, other house old lady has a son with a Harley, over a bit house with adult son with quads, Colborne st is a main drag, lots of sirens. No complaints. Lulz!
