Here are a couple from Avon, IL. a week ago. The one is a branch with dark red leaves in the middle of normal yellow sugar maple leaves. Have to watch it next spring and see if it looks different then also. May have a new variety.

Just a short slide show

It simply a few closeups of a few of the Japanese maples in my yard. I shot them Tuesday:

here's one image...it's of one of my two green laceleafs that are in total shade, but really color up nicely. They aren't a lot larger than they were 25 years ago, but are close to seven feet in crown spread. I like them better than the dark red laceleaf I planted 5 years ago. Who can identify the rogue leaf? It's from a species that typically produces little or no nice fall colors....
