Just felt like posting this. Don't have any pics, as our two cameras are broken, but a friend is going to send us a few.

It's hell out there right now. A ton of damage, power lines still coming down, along with tree branches. 3/4 of Fayette county is without power. They cancelled school for tomorrow, and most likely Friday, making for a week with no school. I don't know who was here for the last Ice Storm, but this is almost as bad. I expect to start seeing "storm chaser" companies pulling into town soon.

Pics to come soon.

I'll be posting pics too, sounds like.

One of the guys I fly for wants me to go down.

Just ironing out the details, right now.

saw a blip on our local news, looks like a million folks or better without power, lots of messy stuff out there.

Lexington, KY to be exact. For around here, it's something of 36500 people without power or heat. National Guard is coming in tomorrow morning. We're out of here 8 in the morning tomorrow, cutting and dragging downed limbs. Crap weighs three times what is normally does with all the ice collected on it.

I know EVERYONE wants work right now, but I am again extending my assistance if wanted. I can be there in 6 hours.

A mini would be sweet!! The job we're heading too now could really use one, but to rent it, it costs as much as a full size machine.

yup, all hands on deck I would think if its insurance money etc. must be a fleet of power co trucks heading out there again or did y'all let them leave after the last storm? :)

Our chipper crapped out today. Bad alternator. So, we cut and stacked a ton of stuff, and delivered some firewood.

Erik, where you heading too??

Lexington, KY to be exact.

There ya go.

Ohh... and Arborworks1... I'm down. I'll take a chip truck and a big chipper. You bring the mini and whatever else. We'd have a regular little set up to crank some stuff out.

But I have a question. The only storm clean up I've done is in my own home towns, where people knew me or I worked for someone else, etc... When these crews just show up, how do they get hired? Do they sign up with another company, or do they just show up and say, "I'll get that outta here for $1,000 bucks?"

wagnaw,

a lot of guys show up and bid their own stuff. get there fast or youll be too late. after about 3 days, a lot of folks are tired of door knockers. If you have a local contact, its better because at least you can throw the name of who they called. it also gives the local co a chance to tell them they are pasing the customers name to "wagnaw tree".

best of luck...im staying home. been there - done that.

ps, take lots of fuel with you... acouple days worth. never know when the locals will get fuel service back.

We'll be in Lexington KY. tomorrow afternoon, and push on early Sat. morning to wherever it looks good. (paducah west to joneboro)
A 65' truck crane, skidsteers, all the climbing goodies, and a bucket truck and 2 more skidsteers following behind us a day.

Gonna be a blast. and we're bringing a film guy.:D

anybody who has info, or wants some,

Andrew. I'm down but I can't get out till next thursday though, I'm tied up on a pruning contract till wednesday.

Only storm chasing experience I have is katrina. And I beat down doors till I had some takers. Then the neighbors had something to be done, and so on. I suppose linking up with local company would be the right step.
