Bumping this thread because I had the perfect opportunity to swing a small leaner and no real targets to worry about. This was more about 1- keeping one tree off the other and 2 - swinging the tree into a clear zone we wanted to stage a slash pile in for two trees.
Perfect holding wood for it as it was a gray pine just oozing with pitch. About 12" dbh. Not perfectly balanced but the breeze was right and I could use the compression of the lower part of the hinge to swing the tree out 45-50 degrees.
