Just thought I'd share this huge labor saver.
I don't know how the photo uploader program works, and all my pics are on Photobucket, not my computer, so sorry if they do something screwy on the screen.
Step one for the one person redwood log lift (this has become garden bed edging at my house since I was able to keep it long).
Slide "horn" under log with corner of blade.
Use hand truck as lever to easily lift, horn helps to hold in place.
Pivot hand truck under log, secure with chain. A suggested idea was to use a "jam cleat" and scrap rope. I think that I'd like this, better. Chains are noisy, and don't daisy chain well.
One person easy roll, though gates, even up a ramp into a trailer. Unload the opposite way.
You can lay a bunch of straight brush, like conifer limbs, on a piece of scrap rope, then choke/ cinch up the branches. I lift the butts and slide the hand truck under, near the center of gravity. Easy roll right to the chipper or brush trailer (even roll into the brush trailer).
Look close for the black wheel and silver wheel "lugs". I loaded and rolled this by myself with relative ease. The hardest part was lifting the butts and getting the HT under without help.
I was thinking of getting micro-stake pockets put on the sides, and then being able to insert some lengths of scrap 1/2" tubing for stakes. Lay it down, stake it up, load it up, and roll. No need to load the whole bundle at once.
