I heard that Harken is will no longer be making the winch that has been used. Good will be having Harken custom make a winch for the GRCS. I think that is basically happening. I guess all of the GRCS's that are going out right now have a 48:1 winch but that is just a short term situation. I am not sure of what kind of power the new winch will have.

We are a two man company and sometimes I wish we had two. I can't figure out why we waited so long to get one.

What winch do you all have on yours? It seems to me that most people talk about a 44:1 winch but ours says 46:1.

Greg is having Harken make an arborist specific capstan. It will be taller, allowing more wraps (5 with 3/4" line) Wider jaws on the tailer, a stainless cap that will protect the jaws. Instead of the upper jaw moving it will be the lower that moves. Also in testing this winch will pull around 25% more. So the increased cost is justified in my mind.

I would like to see Rollers on the top were you first put the Rope into the Unit. Also a system different to the "pig tails" that hold the rope at each side of the drum.Somthing like a section of Pipe that has a slot in it like a Key way.

Didn't think that the GRCS could be improved upon, but it sure sounds like Greg is doing just that. I think that's great and can't wait to see the new one. I've had mine for about 4 years now and can't imagine not having the option to use it when I want.

One of my guys broke the weld on the pig tail. It's the second time it's happened. I've only told them a million times to pull in line with the drum when tensioning the line.

Upon further consideration, I think Wesspur advertised it wrong. They used a space to say, "something better is coming along, but you should get this quickly now even though it's the old version."

I think they should've used that space to say, "WOW Zoom KAPOW the new GRCS will do all these amazing things!!" Build that hype. Mention in small print that the old one will still be available at a reduced price, but build up the interest now.

I could be wrong, though.
