Yeah, Andy, I was going to say....

Little reverence for wood is sad. All the growing time that has gone into a good log and the potential usefulness that lies within. It's been a highly valued substance by a number of trades for centuries, not to mention the high skill and beauty that has been revealed with it's sincere use.

Wow, that was a deep, articulate post

Playing devils advocate- just a matter of time before it will be a tree and log again

So is everything just a matter of time; us, family, kids, all the things that you love and cherish, the future possibilities, it's all meaningless if it disappears within the grand scale of things, if you want to look at it that way. It's like saying there's no problem in burning all the oil, because in a few million years or so there will be more that has become available. Dumb logic to waste resources, that is things of potential usefulness during any age. It may be problematical to find a soure of use that best realises the value of something, but the quickest rational doesn't simply toss out the need for some effort. Wood is cool stuff, that's all. Take a fine shaving and it shines, sometimes with a myriad of colors. An amazingly strong material too, that gets more attractive over time and gives back from the care. Not a lot of things like that when used everyday.

Rio rosewood, Spanish mahogany, Bangkok teak etc. won't ever be back the way they were.
They'll be replaced by platation grown wood, that has none of the propertis of jungle grown.
The jungle won't make a come back as long as there are humans to cut it down so they can plant soy beans and oil palms.
