My computer takes about 5 to 10 seconds to load a page in the Treehouse. This started a couple of weeks ago and I noticed that when the page is loading the "phishing filter" is working. I was wondering how necessary this was on a trusted site.

I disabled the phishing filter completely the first week I had Vista. I found it incredibly annoying. I simply rely on my own common sense to detect phishing scams. I do not click on popup ads (or any ads, for that matter) and then give out personal info on that page.

As a side note, the Treehouse has always been sporadic as long as I've been here. Fast on one page and then it hangs up on the next. But I just downloaded IE8 and it's noticably faster than IE7.

Yes, Steve. If you're not clicking on lots of links from strangers on Facebook or something, then phishing isn't much of a concern.

BTW, I just uninstalled IE8. With it I lost the right click menu/function on my mouse.

I installed IE8 a couple of weeks ago. What a mess, nothing worked properly. Tried uninstalling it and failed. I seem to have it sorted now except if I want to post a picture or something here I get "allow scripted windows" never had it before. Tried a few things, now sometimes I get it and then sometimes I don't. :(

Firefox is nice. The plugins are really what make it rock, though. Fasterfox plugin for speedier page loading and Adblock Plus for no more annoying ads!
