climbing on two friction hitches

The old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" has some merit. As long as MB still climbs on a tautline hitch and Glen Plake still rides those skinny 205's, all is right with the world.
 
My old DEDA lanyard. Custom made by Nick. Sounds like what the motion lanyard is, I opted for gibbs instead of hitches, this one is 20'.
Too heavy, too cluttery, and once I started using split tails, I used my climbing line as a second lanyard when needed.
I've been thinking about cutting it in half since I mothballed it 2 years ago, at least it would see some use.

Here's my VT hitch. Notice how short I made the cord. You want the cord as short as possible without actually binding. I think the premade spliced cords from Sherrill and other places are way too long and make the VT hitch much less efficient, too much slop in the setup.
