Can the DMM Hitch Climber be used SRT

Hi guys,
I was wondering if it is possible to use the hitch climber in a SRT setup with a foot ascender and then remove the foot ascender when you want to descend. The reason that I am asking this is that I am mainly doing inspections as an assistant consultant arborist and my rope may be over 2 branches so having the other end connected back to the pulley would be a bit of an issue. In some situations when I am doing pruning to specification work or the odd removal it would be handy to have it in the proper configuration.
