For what they cost you would think they would have a sheet metal guard over them or something at least... I know the genie tow behinds use a guard there.

The unit I listed does have guards with the Arborist Package. 3/16 aluminum.

Uhhhh, dont remember. Eighteen or so years ago. Prob about 500 would be my guess

I should have made that clearer. Did you grind one stump "thru house venture" or have you done many stumps like that in 18 years. Because one in 18 years IMO doesn't justify having narrow access equipment. If it were once a month then its worth it's weight in gold and a guy can justify the cost of owning narrow access gear. More in line with FJR's habitat of work.
I thought long and hard about getting a mini that was 36" wide but settled for one that's 42" wide and have not regretted the choice once thus far.

I have run many of their units. They are excellent. TOugh, simple and their service is awesome. i think they are even putting out an insulated one this year.

Too many to count over the last quarter century. But now i sub out my stumps. A mini has many jses while a grinder is dedicated, much more useful

They are asking me to find myself a tracked lift that can go through a single door... 6'6"...

Can run indoors... for indoor trees etc.

I'm looking at the Teupen Leo 18...
58' working height and 24' side reach... but very low foot print... psi...

I know different lifts lift differently... like some telescope out or jib out...others articulate...

What's the best small 60' tracked lift indoor/outdoor passing through single door that can lift/elevate with smallest footprint...

Like you don't have to stick the elbow out 30 feet to get up 30 feet.... you can hover up..

And has great west coast customer service...specifically San Jose... or bay area.

The teupen videos are cool... the width difference is the 18 is 2'7"... and the 23 is like 3'7"...

We'll be doing some indoor ficus work too..as well as up to 50-60 feet of trees...

The videos showed the teupen crawling stairs and muddy hills.

But I've heard they have ghosts in the wiring etc... I liked the idea of the boner basic "tracked lifts" brand with less wiring etc..

Looking forward to some more input...

I know Brett had issues with mice eating the wiring since his equipment is parked outside. They eventually had to fly a specialist over from Europe to rewire it.

I have a 2006 Teupen LEO15GT that I bought in 2009 with 10 hours on the machine. It's awesome but I have had a few issues with it, the major one being a complete rewiring of the boom to the tune of $6,500. I've heard that the Teupens can be finicky but mine's been fairly reliable for the most part. At 30" wide it's great for back yard access. Having said that, since I bought the NiftyLift SD64 two years ago I hardly ever use the Teupen; maybe once a month or so.

Mine is a diesel, so no it can't work indoors. The Teupen is diesel or electric so it can work indoors although I've never used the electric power source.

Seems the powers that be are gaining momentum and stoked on the "Tracked Lift"
Not necessary to go inside buildings, just tight DG paths and good side reach.

They want to use As high of a biodiesel component as possible... I said they make a b-99.
It'll be interesting. Looking forward to this.

I was highly unimpressed with the Versalift I saw some line clearance guys using. Very, very slow groundspeed. I thought our stump grinder could outrun it. It's faster to hitch up the Haulotte lift we rent to the pickup & move it into position, then unhitch and autolevel the spider legs.

Stump grinders are small and light, and only spin a wheel, basically.

A lift is and does so much more. No surprise it's slower.

My NiftyLift will go about 5 mph which sounds slow but is really pretty quick when you're going through someone's back yard.
