This is a walnut I actually like to prune. Customer used to have a CA friend of theirs do it... I took it over a couple years ago.
Stage two complete...
Hey Stig, here is another one that got neglected for a few years... Snow flattened the top and broke a bunch of it. I got the call earlier in the year to clean it up so a car could get in and out of the garage. I then scheduled the pollard for November to catch the tree becomming more dormant... Also landed a few beetle kill ponderosa from this visit

Nice!
It did look somewhat flattened.
I have about 15 big lindens to repollard at "our" castle.
I'll have to remember to do some before and after pictures.
Please do. I wanted to show you what our wet snow does to trees that are not maintained proper. I am sure you have seen examples in your neck of the woods as well.....
Little mistletoe removal today and a B&B just down the road from me. He wants another one done, but I only wanted to work a short day today. He felt better he could spread the tree care over a couple of months as well
Thanks
I think the tree fells better for it as well Going to be nice to see it on my regular schedule as well every so often
And a beauty of a fall day for it as well.... No frost yet
A moderate sized couple of blue oaks on a property I see about once a month. Lady was concerned she was going to get hit on the head by some of the dead that kept falling out... I started the first tree and noticed a longitudinal split on a major limb. Probably from that really bad storm of high winds a wet snow a few years back. The wound was starting to compartmentize nicely, but then I found another split. HO opted to have me cable it while it continues to seal the wounds and grow stronger. Nice healthy tree....

Came back on the tree today to do the install and finish the rear leader of the tree that is not attached to the system. We were only removing the hazardous to the head dead. I did reduce weight on the cabled portion of the tree.
Just took on this thinning job... Started by eliminating the competition around the baby pondos, spaced them and raised them enough to get a weed eater under them to keep the new brush growth under control. Helps keep fire off them as well. Then we proceeded into the woods behind them. This is a 20 man hour trial job. We will know if the HO wants to continue with our services after they inspect the result. Might get two or three beetle kill removals from them as well..

Amazing what you find when you brush things out....
That squiggly one there appears to be 150 or so years old. I will do some more measuring over the weekend. There are some 300 plus year old ones up the hill from there on another property we work on.
Ya...I were being sarcastic. I like the dry hot climate, but it seems like your weather doesn't get oppressively hot for too long, like in AZ or NM or other parts of Cali. Of course, I could be (and often am) wrong.
A little fruitless mulberry prune......
Lady lives on the porch in the summer so the shade is important to her. Tree is on the south west side and the property overlooks the town below. Crown goes out over the roof to about the roof peak in places.
Slight crown raise for view and roof clearance... Then prune obvious (epi, dead and crossed).
