My friend who works for a tree company here in NC asked me to get liability insurance so he can use me when he needs me and pay me as an independent contractor instead of hourly on their companies.
Is liability all I need when doing tree work? What liability would experienced climbers recommend? I would use DBA for taxes I am guessing.
Any direction is appreciated. Love this forum. Thanks

Y'all might plug "liability" into the search function...there are multiple threads on the subject.

Not to dissuade anyone from giving you input, not at all.
I did just that and it didn't lead me anywhere. Figured it would be a simple thing as there are contract climbers. They have to have something. Someone told me "Call around" but was hoping for some direction here.

I know nothing about the business side of things. How would I incorporate myself and is there a benefit to insurance rates?

Incorporation seperates personal assets from business assets.

Stratum Insurance is cheap with slow customer service.

I currently insure with Washington Contact Loggers' Association in Olympia, through their residential side.

Bonding is commonly required, and license(s), too.
