It has been mentioned by some around here that some people here are needing help with different aspects of tree care. :?

So go ahead and ask.............ye shall recieve an answer, though it may not be the answer you want to hear!

What color tree paint works best with different specie trees?

When cutting down a tree that is too tall, how do you keep the ladder from slipping off the trunk?

Paint the end of the ladder to make it tacky to stick to the tree.

Easy, hold yer chainsaw and get to cutting and ask yer buddy to hold yer ladder for you on yer car's trunk!

I like to do tree work wearing my ray-bans, but they aren't 'official' safety glasses, is it ok to do this?

It all depends on what look you are after. For a manly man I would go with a camo theme, for a metrosexual kinda guy a light lilac may be a nice touch. You should let your imagination run wild and run along with it...............be free!

My buddy has an 80' oak leaning over his house and wants to cut it down. I figured we could toss a chain over the first limb and he could pull on it with his 4WD pickup truck while I cut it (slanting the cut away from the house, duh).

My question is: What brand of bar oil should I use when cutting this tree up into firewood? I figure we can make a fortune selling it.

Bar oil aka KY jelly!

Hi y'all. I own a lawn service and I'm starting to get more requests for tree removals. I did my first real tree job last weekend using my dad's Poulan Wild Thing. That saw is a cutting MACHINE, by the way. It ROCKS! I cut down a 12" oak and had the whole thing cut up into firewood in less than 8 hours! My problem is while trying to get the stump out, the blade keeps getting loose and smoking a lot. My friend was spraying the blade with cold water which seemed to help keep it from overheating but it was still hard to cut all of the roots. Is there a special blade you use to cut the roots, they seem to be harder than the branches. Thanks for your help.

I was telling my neighbor about a heavy leaning Oak tree that needs to be pulled over to be cut safely, but nothing to attach a puller to. He said to drive a metal stake into the ground and attach to it, just be sure that the stake is pointing away from the tree.

Are neighbors reliable sources of advice for when doing risky tree jobs?

Craig, I believe you can edit the title yourself. Just click the 'edit post' link under the first post, then 'go advanced'.

The first root cutting gadget with a blade that comes to mind would have to be a lawn mower. Just make sure that remove those dad gum safety guards before you start it up, they always get in the way.

I have a skid steer and since I don't have time to make notches, I don't, I just pull them with the machine. Well I've broken several ropes, can you recommend a rope I wont break?
