Traded a Yamaha kick pedal for a birch Yamaha Stage Custom snare today. I told the guy I got the better end of the deal and he agreed but went with it anyway. He wanted a chain drive pedal and I had a belt drive to offer so I told him we could trade back if he wasn't happy. I hope he's happy. He brought a photo book of 30 snare drums that he owned like they were his children. Signature series snares from Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Vinnie Paul from Pantera who recently passed, it was pretty neat. He was well into his 60's and still gigging at a local bar this weekend. I'm going to have to try that out someday.
A 300 dollar snare, cool. My Puresound 30 strand wire came in today and I swapped out the stock no-name 20 strand. It improved the sizzle a bit and wasn't expensive. Scored a 20" Sabian heavy ride (made back in the 80's) for 30 bucks off a fool selling off his gear. It's become my best cymbal. Hell, I had to order another 2-pack of PDP boom stands! Since I took that picture I've added 3 more cymbals! I don't have any more room! I have a cool lil cymbal mount coming that attaches to the FT... gonna be interesting configuring it! I love buying gear!!!
I hope it wasn't a $300 snare! I seen a few sold locally online at $130 which makes me feel bad enough considering the pedal wasn't worth more than $30 in my mind. Maybe his wife was applying pressure to liquidate. Either way I'm the winner on this one.
Dang Ryan, I just got a drum dial and if you don't have one of these you NEED one! I tuned it to their specific numbers and my drums sound perfect! No more tapping, listening, guessing - SCIENCE!!!
