I will be eligible for a phone upgrade in less than a month. I am thinking about the IPhone 3GS. Anyone using an IPhone here? Would appreciate feedback. My Motorola Q battery doesn't even last 24 hours, even with less than 60 minutes of talk time. I bought a new battery from AT&T and same problem. I think something on my phone is sucking the battery life. It wasn't that way a year ago.

Currently I am using my old AT&T 3125. It is 4 years old on the original battery and it still lasts 3 days.

I have one. It does suck the battery if you are using it. I would get a 12v cord to carry in the truck. It also seems to charge fairly fast, a 1/2 hour will bring it back from 1/2 discharged.
Surfing the web uses alot of battery also. But it is like a hand held computer. Much more detail than the blackberry.
I works good for me.
If you think of any specific questions ask.

I've been using a 3g since the day they came out and I'm happy with it.
Pro:
-AT&T's service was much better than expected.
-Phone/Voicemail interface rocks, very easy to use.
-Google search app makes looking up things on the net easy.
-Clock/Alarm app is useful
-Tons of good apps for other stuff even though I don't use many.
-SMS text interface is cool but I don't text much.

Con:
-Screen MUST be protected with a shield, $15 extra
-If you crack the screen it's $200 to replace it. I know.
-GPS is usable but not comparable to a dashboard unit. Sometimes it totally screws up because it's dependent on Google Maps for street database. If you go out of service range, no useful GPS.
-Battery runs down fastest when GPS or Camera apps are running, always close them when not in use. I get acceptable battery life most days. I don't talk a lot though.
-It's a bitch to carry with a silicone case on it, but it sits on the dash real nice.
-AT&T will surprise you with what they charge a minute for. I.E., They charge for an incoming VM to THEIR switches, then charge you again when it goes outbound to the phone. Even a one word VM will cost you 2 minutes. I'd never broken 450 minutes in one month before in my life and now I go over that every month, had to switch to the 900 minute plan.

Compared to a regular smart phone it rocks because the touch interface is so well thought out. I can't say about a Blackberry, never used one.

I have the 3G. For the screen protector I use the Invisible Shield, it has a lifetime guarantee. The battery does drain fast, but I just keep it in the truck on the charger while I work. The only other thing that drives me nuts is not being able to view multimedia messages.... drives me insane. Ive had it for 9 months and I really like it. Some people love touchscreen, some people don't... if your a fan Wesley then go for it.

I still like my Palm, touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard. onboard apps for streaming video, pictures etc, 3G wireless, scheduler etc and ITS A PHONE! :D

I thought about an Iphone but what put me off was having to go through the app store for everything.
Went for a HTC Touch HD (Blackstone in the US).It runs WindowsMobile 6.1 and once you get ya head round it very easy to use and is infinetly customisable to your needs and best of all every app is available free ;)

The otterbox protectors and clips ROCK!! I saw one made for a newer Blackberry that almost made me think about buying one! http://www.otterbox.com/iphone-cases/

The touchscreen phones are slicker than snot, very nice. But I don't think they would last more than a couple of weeks with me! I'm hard on phones!
I'll stick with my Tundra for now, just need to keep fro doing the "dunk test" anymore:lol:

I've been hearing on my satellite radio that the i phones have got a 'app' or something and will stream the radio for you anywhere you go.

About any AT&T phone will do that. I can do that on my Tundra, BUT you have to get another subscription!! Yeah, and pay for unlimited internet!
I tried streaming on the Tundra usin Opera mini, but it wouldn't work:X

And I pretty much agree with Erik's link, I think the iPhone is a lot over hyped!

I'd like to upgrade my old Palm Treo 650, but the problem is since I go to Hong Kong I need an unlocked, quad-band phone, and I still want a smartphone. Once you go unlocked the price quickly becomes ridiculous. Even if I buy in Hong Kong, where the selection is much better, the price is still pretty high.

Well I bought the 16G Iphone 3GS on Friday and I like it very much. There are a lot of apps for free and are quite useful. Many of the other apps are only 99¢. I already had unlimited Internet and texting on my old phone so no additional charge there.

I was debating between the Blackberry and Iphone. I did not like the trackball on the BB and the only advantage of the BB was I could load MS Office docs in it, but I didn't do that with my Motorola Q and I wanted a phone that would be better on the Internet. The 3GS is very fast loading web pages.

One app that is free and I find useful is AroundMe. It gives you locations of banks, shops, restaurants, gas stations, etc., directions how to get there from your present location and the phone number. The YP app is great also, no need for a phone book. I love the voice dialing, no need to assign voice tags. It will call all the numbers in your contacts by name and which phone you want to dial, their mobile, home, office, etc. And the voice Google is awesome. No need to type in what you are searching for, just speak it. I am surprised how well the IP's voice recognition is.

I did buy a couple of apps. 99¢ for the Registered Sex Offenders. That one will find them by either using your present location or by typing in an address. I have around 50 within a 2 mile radius from my home, but none in my subdivision. It even shows the offender's picture and what they were convicted for. A $1.99 app is the Handy Carpenter. It turns the IP into a level, plumb bob, ruler and protractor. I used it to measure a distance of 11⅞ inches and it was accurate to within ⅛ inch of it. It will be handy to measure the width of a gate if I don't have a tape with me.

I also loaded working pictures in it and pictures are displayed much better than my old phone and you can actually see detail without straining the eyes. I could show potential customers some of my work without carry around a photo album.

I think it is a great phone with a lot of useful apps. Right now I am happy I got it. I do have a 30 day trial period to take it back if I change my mind, but I don't think I will. Battery life isn't very good when using it. It does need to be charged every day, but Apple will replace the battery if it starts to fail within a year. $69 to extend the warranty on the whole phone for an additional year. I may get that, but I have a year to decide.

Nice man!!! I'm waiting till my current plan with Verzion expires in Feburary to get the 16GB 3GS. Being a huge Apple geek(with 2 IPOD's, an iMac, a Macbook Pro, and other assorted apple goodies:D) the wait is killing me!

Glad to hear good feedback though. Mom has the 8GB 3G version, and she went from using her phone just to make calls to using it as a web browser, GPS, phone, and a bunch of other apps. It's amazing what this phone does!8)

Forgot to mention, if I were you I would get the extended warrantry. Apple has the highest customer support ratings of any computer/phone company out there. You actually talk to a guy in America, not someone in India!

I have the 16gb 3G S. It's good stuff. I don't pay for apps and have some great ones.

The camera is awesome, the video camera works very, very well.

I wish it had better battery life...

My Blackberry is cool but it runs out of voice message space way to fast.
Have you guys using black berry noticed that ?

I have no idea, but it is controlled by your service provider. Which phone you use isn't going to make any difference on your voice mail storage. I'd guess you either need to change the way you manage your voice mail (write them down immediately and delete them rather than letting them build up) or else forward them to a land line where you can put them on your own answering machine. But your service provider can probably answer that question better than I.

Thanx , it was kinda weird when i up graded from a shitty old really bad phone to the black berry .The old phone or service would store a hunderd voice mails. I never ran out .
Now i got the goods but my voice mail storing can run out in a few hours.
I no like.
