    Singing Tree Rope Runner

Very cool, I saw the video of him climbing with it. I have a feeling it will be streamlined before production, but seems like a very cool SRT option. jp:D

    Petzl ZigZag

I've also held a high esteem for Petzl products, never had an issue with any of them. My sequoia harness is going on 5 years old and is still in good shape. Anxious to hear what they find on closer inspection. I almost bought a zigzag recently but opted for the HH. I'll have to let my buddy know...

    Cutting EHS cable

I know this sounds crazy, but wrap the area a few times with electrical tape, seems to make the cuts easier and cleaner. I've always used heavy duty bolt cutters. jp:D

Diamond Head Monkeypod with Hitch Hiker

THanks guys, monkeypods are excellent training trees. That tree was actually on the small-medium size for those trees they can get very big. We pruned 3 about the same size on this job. Husa, that was lighting. I haven't seen any lightning protection in Hawaii although we lost a few trees last...

Diamond Head Monkeypod with Hitch Hiker

Here's a short vid from yesterday pruning a monkeypod with the hitch hiker. Once I got the HH dialed in correctly (the right direction on the wraps) it runs very smooth. After using all day I definitely am loving this new tool. Thanks Paul! jp:D <iframe width="560" height="315"...

    Retrenching Hollow Trees for Life

Good question, if we get the job and do the pruning we will find out! The trunk is most certainly hollow.... jp:D

    Retrenching Hollow Trees for Life

Just put a bid on a 30-40% crown reduction on a very large chinese banyan with a large vertical crack and defects at the base (poor branch unions where they fork from at the trunk). There is also decay evident along the major lateral branches. The tree is a significant liability as it stands but...

    Porty

We used to have a mini one that we used all the time. I loved it for 1/2" lines mainly lowering branches and smaller wood. For the bigger wood we just break out the HOBBS. Well we lost the mini and I just bought the medium sized porty. For around a $100, I'll save the time and energy in trying...

    Hitch Hiker Reviews

Tried the HH for the first time yesterday. I think I'm not doing the wraps correctly as it grabbed very tightly and had a hard time releasing. I also noticed that there was about a half inch of sit back when advancing and sitting in the line. I do like how compact and sleek the setup is, but it...

    Tree Risk Management Form

Guy, it looks like the old form uses the TRACE format for evaluating risk while your updated form has a 0-10 rating? Since I'm more accustomed to the TRACE format, the original form makes more sense to me. jp:D

    Oio Pine Video

Thanks Jerry. I last spoke with Roy about 6 months ago, he was spending the last few winters down in Santa Cruz. Apparently he fell in love with the surf spot Steamer Lane and has been spending every swell surfing that break alone (middle peak). I keep trying to talk him into coming out here, he...
