    Perkins Diesels

So many opinions.......I'd say it comes down to the maintenance mostly and dealer support. Do your research on the model of the motor, that will give you info on whether that is a good unit or not. Our Morbark dealer is also a Komatsu dealer (CAT's biggest competition in equipment), so CAT puts...

    New stihl chain 63PS

So this is different than the 3/8lp chisel they can out with last year? Full Chisel made a nice difference on my 020t/ms200t/ms201t's!

    BOXER bought out

Morbark buys Boxer and a few days later Bandit announces they will have their own mini skids later this year. Love the competition!

    Husqvarna 562xp

I bought a 562xp last week. Did a nice job doing storm damage from Sandy. Mine was a demo saw, but came with a full warranty. Gonna do some work based testing with it against one of my 2171's soon.

Mail Just Came: August TCIA Mag: Chris Girard

August is a good issue. Nice to see some familiar faces with Chris and Reg Coates in the same article. Keep up the good work and spreading the knowledge!

    Husqvarna 562xp

I had a demo 562 this past winter. Nice saw and I think it will fit you well. The power isn't quite on the level of the 372, but the saw feels great, handles really well and flat rips with an 18". It's great for buzzing off limbs and bucking medium size wood. Feels good in the tree too. I'm a...

"It's just a birch tree".....how hard could it be?

I wish, Jeff kept me too busy with brush and logs and I never snapped another picture. Kicking myself for it now. He climbed way out on each limb and handsawed most of the small branches off. We butt hitched the tops onto the roof and that made lowering them a lot more controlled than just...

"It's just a birch tree".....how hard could it be?

My buddy Jeff and I took out this birch tree yesterday. Jeff did a phenomenal job climbing. He took it down all by hand. Every other tree company wanted to use a bucket, but you would have damaged the landscape and had to cut your way in for access. We had planned to rent a spider lift after...

    1998 Morbark 2400 186hp Deere

We run a 2400xl at work with a 188hp perkins. It wouldn't fill a semi, just not enough throwing power stock. The drum chippers have a lot harder time throwing chips than a disc. 2400's are the workhorse chipper of this industry IMO. Good chippers for the money!

    Chuck & Duck Chipper

Yup, a paint job is needed, but sure bets a gas powered chuck and duck. Priced good too and you wouldn't feel bad about dropping a little money in this chipper to get it up to snuff.

    Boom Trucks

Ya, if you think it's gonna pick the max tonnage up with no stipulations, you don't know squat about cranes. These ratings are formulated with multiple pulleys, high angles, etc. The winches are good for around 4 ton, so you have to use the boom only when dealing with anything larger. Your chart...

    Chuck & Duck Chipper

Hey, I'm Andrew. You should be able to find a 1230/1250 for around 5k, but it's gonna take some time and be ready to strike when ya find a deal. You can also find a lot of bandit 200+'s, Morbark 200's, and maybe a Bandi 250xp or a Morbark model 13. Use searchtempest to search craigslist and...

    What blower do you use?

That's it and a good price. I believe they retail for around $600. I think my dealer is gonna let me have one for 500 or so. Right in line with the br600 price. We'll see, but I was thinking about trying to swing a new BR600 and the redmax, then seeing which one is preferred. We need one each...

    Chuck & Duck Chipper

Ya, forget a chuck and duck. You can find old self feeding brush bandits and morbarks for under 5k. A world better in productivity, capacity and safety. Chuck and ducks are fine for straight brush and that's about it. The ones I've used in the past would spit back the larger diameter wood or...

    What blower do you use?

I have a BR600 and it's a work horse. At work, we run the bg85/86. Good for a pruning crew, but a backpack is the way to go for removals. Redmax has a 80cc blower now and I demoed it recently. Noticeably more powerful than the BR600 and they have cut the weight on them a lot. I think that will...

    St. Patrick's Day Oak Removal

Haven't been on for a while. I try to be eye level with the cuts. You gotta be able to duck in case it doesn't come off perfect or if it flips. The best are when the pick just sits an inch above the cut and balances perfectly. Not quite there yet, but did have some really nice picks this past...
