I bought a large wood plate/platter for a buck...about 18" diam, soft light wood (maple?) looks to me to be a bit 'retro', maybe from the 60s or 70s. Not one solid piece, it's joined in two places. It's a bit beat up, but I thought it would be a good piece to practice refinishing, something I don't have the hang of at all.

It has a mark on it, but an image is hard to google. Hoping someone here might know it. Thanks

Ellinger's Co. in Sheboygan, WI has been making wooden bowls and platters since the '50's. Could it be Hubert Ellinger, one of the original founders. :?

Let's just say, nobody wants to play Trivial Pursuit with me. :( ;)

I'm searching on him now, but will have to come back to it later. So far, all I can find are the 'agatized' wood products and they are stamped with the company name, not this mark. Great place to start though, thanks!!
