Drinking season starts when it's fit to be outside. Around the 50s is pretty good. It ends in the spring when it becomes unfit to be outside. I make some exceptions like last night. That was more aspirational than anything, but the air smelled good, so I made an exception. The sky wasn't as clear as I'd like. Had a bit of a haze going on. I like it crisp enough you could cut diamonds with it. A few clouds are tolerable, especially when they interact with a bright moon.

Yeah, that's all when it starts...in Maryland. Year round in the northern hemisphere!

Dalmore 12yr, and not a Swedish candle. I suddenly came into possession of a bunch of white pine branches, and this is a good use for them.

Saw this at the grocery today and had to try it...

It's really good. Just sparkling water and hops. Expensive. I think it was $5/4pack, and it was a discount grocer. With any luck it won't sell well and the price will drop. Worth it for the experience, but too much money to drink all the time.

I saw one of those recently, I think they were considerably more expensive than $5. Will give it a try.

I just started drinking filtered tap water recently. Regular city tap water was fine imo and all I drank for 60+ years, except for the occasional poland spring which tasted very good. My wife drinks filtered water so one day I did a blind taste test- filtered vs city tap. Filtered was the clear winner so I've been drinking that since.

Just fyi, not exactly a fun booze post

My tap water isn't bad, but you can sometimes taste the chlorine. I have a dripping faucet in the kitchen, and I keep a glass under it. That lets the water air out, and it tastes better than it does fresh from the tap.

I prefer Deer Park and some other spring waters, though DP has 2 flavors one of which isn't good, and I'm still not sure if it has to do with me or which spring they get if from.

I converted my kegerator when I quit drinking and make hop water for pennies. Pretty easy. Couple ounces of hops..steep in hot water, filter and add to keg. Add citrus and water until full. Hook up to Co2, enjoy....

Asheville water was wrecked for a couple of months....Have it back now. I have old well on property im considering getting back in action. Its capped with concrete. Anyone ever tackled a project like that? I assume its fine and not sure why previous owners switched to city water.

Dunno the regs regarding wells, and they probably vary by location. Before you do anything, you might want to research your well in particular, and wells in general in your immediate area. The water could be bad there. Shallow well, high in unwanted chemicals, tastes like ass... The well water at the office is terrible tasting, and high in nitrates. Deeep wells in that location. Wells can go hundreds of feet to hit water, but it still tastes bad.

Previous owners may have been forced to switch to city water. My wife’s grandparents house has a well and were forced to go city water. And the city water sucks, tastes and smells like over chlorinated pool water.

what would you suggest. Remove concrete cap and hire someone to consult? Wondering if there is a hand pump option if I just want to redneck it and have for emergency water. Dont want to spend to much if well is bad....

Can you elaborate on the "forced" part? I could see the city mandating that they hook to city water, but fail to see how the city could force them to use it.

Remove cap, get a sample and have it tested. Often your local health dept can do it. But if you want to be quieter about it, labs can be looked up. You also need to establish well depth, water head depth, and if it was lined. Wells can be lined with a proper pipe and such.
